A fire system is only as honest as the tag on it.
The plates bolted beside that riser carry the hydraulic calculation for the system they feed. The tag hanging off the standpipe carries our name and this office number. Both were put there by the person who did the work, and both stay legible long after we have driven away.
That is the whole argument for using a contractor who designs, installs, inspects and monitors under one registration. When something reads wrong on a panel at midnight, there is one number to call and one company that knows what is above the ceiling.

Riser assembly, hydraulic plates and the inspection tag that goes on afterward. The plate reads N44. The tag on the standpipe carries our name and the Duncanville number, because whoever opens that valve room next needs to know who to call.
PUMP ROOM
The room the whole system depends on
Vertical turbine pump, suction and discharge in red, two gate valves, controller on the wall. Everything above the ceiling is only as good as this room, which is why the annual test starts here rather than at the head furthest away.
FOAM
Special hazards, Motiva and Valspar
A foam bladder tank set on its pads and piped. Flammable liquid does not respond to water the way an office does, so the suppression has to change with it. Foam systems went into Motiva Fuels in 2010 and Valspar in Garland the year before.
RELEASING
Eight releasing panels, one wall
Releasing panels tie detection to suppression, so the panel has to be right before the agent ever moves. Eight of them on one wall, each circuit tagged by hand at the box, because the label is what the next technician reads.

The inside of an annunciator door
Point to point, lamp by lamp, cable tied in runs a person can follow. Nobody who buys the building will ever open this door. It is done this way because the technician who has to troubleshoot it at two in the morning will.

Twenty years of modular work
Modular buildings arrive in pieces and still have to leave as one protected structure. More than twenty years of it, from Mayport Naval in 2019 through several thousand floors of FEMA housing, with the site work done alongside.
